THE BIG BROTHERS, BIG SISTERS ORGANIZATION ARE ASKING FOR QUILTED ITEMS TO BE DONATED FOR AUCTION AT THEIR ANNUAL FUNDRAISER “BOWLING FOR KIDS” TO BE HELD AT AL-MAR LANES IN BOWLING GREEEN “A LITTLE TOUCH OF HEAVEN” BY Feb. 1, 2010. IF YOU’RE NOT INTERESTED, PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR AND SPREAD THE WORD TO AREA QUILT GROUPS.

BEGINNING IN JANUARY 2010, I WILL BE OFFERING A BLOCK OF THE MONTH CALLED “BE MERRY.” THE BLOCKS ARE SIMPLE PIECING AND APPLIQUE AND ON DISPLAY IN THE STORE. IT IS A 6 MONTH CLUB BUT MOST OF THE MONTHS INCLUDE MORE THAN ONE PATTERN. I APOLOGIZE THAT I DO NOT HAVE AN EXACT COST JUST YET. THE THIRD SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH WILL BE SET ASIDE FOR THOSE WHO WISH TO WORK ON THEIR BLOCKS IN THE STORE.

These potholders are oval shaped and slip over your fingers and thumb. These make quick last minute gifts. Cost $12.00 class and materials for two potholders

FUN AND DONE QUILTING METHOD

Come in and learn the newest quilt as you go method. Machine quilt each block as you go. You will learn the method by making two blocks and sewing them together to make a small table runner. If you would be interested in continuing to make a larger item, you may purchase the additional fabric. This is a great method for beginners who are afraid to tackle a bed sized quilt. We can also set up more class times for those interested.

MAKE IT AND TAKE IT CLASS- BAKED POTATO/TORTILLA WARMERS

PUNCHNEEDLE
TUES. MARCH 2 – 6:30-8:00
If you enjoy hand sewing you’ll love punchneedle. These are small projects that you will be able to complete in one evening. Class is free but you will need to purchase your own supplies. There are several different punch needle tools that range from $10.00-$20.00 and also embroidery floss at 35 cents a skein.

MAKING MEMORIES
SAT. MARCH 6 & 13- 10:00 - ?
SPEND THE DAY SEWING WITH YOUR DAUGHTER/GRANDDAUGHTER MAKING MEMORIES! You will make a handprint pattern for your hands. All handprints will be sewn to a background fabric and your names will be embroidered under the hand. These will then be sewn to an apron as a keepsake for your daughter/granddaughter. If you’re not interested in an apron, the handprints can be sewn on a tote bag, album covers or something of your own choosing.
Class cost: $10.00 plus supplies (The total cost will depend on which item you choose to make)

LEARN TO MAKE YO-YOS
TUES. MARCH 9 OR 16 6:30-9:00
Learn to make yo-yo’s for a table runner, stuffed animal, embellishing or a quilt. All hand sewing!

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR ALL CLASSES IN ADVANCE. DUE TO CLASSROOM SIZE I AM LIMITED TO 6 PERSONS. I HAVE FOUR MACHINES FOR PUBLIC USE BUT YOU WILL NEED TO LET ME KNOW IF YOU ARE USING ONE OF THE STORE SEWING MACHINES. IF YOU ARE USING MY SUPPLIES AND/OR MACHINE YOU ARE ASKED TO MAKE A MONETARY DONATION ($2-$3) TO HELP DEFRAY THE COST OF YEARLY MAINTENANCE ($200.00) ON THESE MACHINES. THE DONATIONS WILL BE ON AN HONOR SYSTEM AND A MONEY JAR WILL BE ON THE TABLE. I APOLOGIZE FOR THIS ADDITIONAL COST. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.
